Japan is the home of anime! From magical girls to brave heroes, Japanese cartoons are watched by millions of kids all over the world. The word "anime" comes from the English word "animation"!
In Japan, cats are super special! The lucky waving cat (Maneki-neko ζγη«) brings good luck. There are even whole ISLANDS full of cats, like Tashirojima β the famous Cat Island! ποΈ
Every spring, Japan turns PINK! Cherry blossom trees (sakura ζ‘) bloom for just 2 weeks. Families have picnics under the trees β it's called Hanami, which means "flower viewing"!
In Japanese stories, foxes (kitsune η) are magical! They can have up to NINE tails and shape-shift into people. There are also tanuki (raccoon dogs π¦) who can transform using their big bellies!

πMount Fuji is Japan's tallest mountain at 3,776 meters β so tall it's almost always covered in snow! It's a real volcano, but it hasn't erupted since 1707.
Japan's bullet trains (shinkansen ζ°εΉΉη·) go as fast as 320 km per hour! They are so punctual, the average delay is less than one minute.
Japan has over 100 castles still standing! Himeji Castle is nicknamed the "White Heron Castle" because it looks like a beautiful bird ready to fly away.
In Nara, over 1,000 wild deer roam freely through the city! They bow their heads to ask for crackers β and bow back when you give them one!
Japan has more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other country! From sushi π£ to ramen π to takoyaki (octopus balls!) π β Japanese food is incredible.
Tashirojima is a real island in Japan where cats outnumber people! The island has cat shrines, cat-shaped buildings, and cats everywhere you look. Purr-fect! π
